Another sweet boy joins the herd!!

We found out a few weeks ago that we will be having another little boy!! We are super excited and can't wait to welcome our new addition to the family in April!! We all got to see his sweet face again yesterday for my 20 week ultrasound and he was moving around the whole time! Definitely an active little boy who is perfect in every way just like his big brother! The Dr said everything looks great and all the screenings we have done came back normal! Praise God for another healthy blessing! I have been a little concerned about my platelets since they were super low with Sully but they have been right where the Dr wants them so lets just hope they stay that way. Sully loves seeing baby brother on the "TV" at the doctors office and loves it even more when he gets to hear his heartbeat. He kept asking the ultrasound tech to "do it again" and got so excited each time she let us hear it. Here are a few pics of the little man and the proofs from Sullys MDO pictures. These pics were so adorable I couldn't help but order them!

Get ready because another Hornsby baby is on its way!!! We found out in August that we were expecting another sweet baby and we couldn't be happier! after feeling awful for the first few months I am finally feeling better! I am not sure if it waste fact that I was working full time and chasing sully around in addition to taking care of house stuff but the firt trimester kicked my butt! Luckily I am working more from home now which gives me more time with Sully and I am finally in my second trimester, 17 weeks tomorrow! God has truly blessed our family and opened so many doors for us in the past 2 years! Sully is beyond excited about the baby and talks to the baby and gives my stomach kisses every day! He has gotten a little possessive of his food lately and once day I took a bite of something he had and he got really upset! He requested that I give it back even thought had already swallowed it. Then he told me he did not want the baby to have it! Now when he is done with his food he asks me to save it and not to let the baby eat it. From the very beginning of the pregnancy we have let me know about the baby. He has been to all my appointments and loves hearing the baby's heartbeat, he says it sounds like a monster truck! He has also been to the ultrasounds and loves seeing  the baby! We went last week and had an early gender ultrasound so we do know what baby #2 is, but we still need to let a few more people know before we let the cat out of the bag so to speak!

Random tidbits

I won't even get into why I have not blogged in months but I do have a few pending posts that I started and then never finished. So I will summarize with some of the highlights of our summer!
My hardworking hubby got a job in the woods working for the Alabama Forestry Commission. You all know that is a winning combo because that man loves being in the woods! He works as a wildland firefighter/forestry technician and gets to work on and use heavy equipment. What man doesn't like to play with heavy machinery??!! Being a wildland firefighter in a "hot" county means we are adjusting to life apart some days which is defintely tough on the 3 of us! We bought a little travel trailer and put it on our property in the county he works in so he has a place to stay when he is on call. The bonus to this is that Sully and I get to "camp out" in the trabble trayor, as Sully calls it, when he is on call!

Sully really enjoyed summer camp at his school and just started in the 3 year old program last week. He is very bright and talks so well for his age. His new classroom focuses on lots of new areas of learning and he loving every minute of it. When you talk with him about school he lights up and loves sharing what they are working on. He also loves his friends. Some of them moved over with him, including his little girlfriend who is a complete doll. When we get to school she starts singing "Sully gully bully"....quite adorable! Blackberry season was in full swing around our house earlier thsi summer and he probably ate his weight in blackberries each week! Thank goodness we just had to go pick them because they are expensive!

A few months ago we took Sully to Calera to see Thomas the Train and let me just say that was an awesome day for all of us! He was so excited to see Thomas and all his favorite characters from the show. Riding the train was his absolute fave....he had the biggest grin the whole day and was so sad when we had to leave. He still talks about going to see Thomas and we can't wait to take him again next year!
He loves helping with anything especially cooking and cleaning! His favorite spot is sitting on the kitchen counter! Even if we are not cooking he loves to sit there and watch me wash dishes or eat his snack. The boy is potty trained! This was a spur of the moment decision a few weeks ago because his school was closed for a few days and he did a great job! Within 3 days we had no accidents, even overnight. Our only problem now is getting him to go poop in the potty. This brings back memories of cloth diapering and  not the pleasant ones :(

My awesome stepmom and sister invited me to go see Legally Blonde the musical a few weeks ago and it was awesome! We met up with my aunt who lives in Birmingham and had a great time! This was my first musical and I am hooked...we are planning to see more this fall!

Sully and Maddie are the cutest pair of cousins! The love playing with each other and you wouldn't be able to tell but Maddie is a year younger than Sully! they have so much fun....above Sully is showing Sully how to play a game on Mort's phone!

I asked Josh to build a sandbox for Sully and he build a huge one...14x14....we only have about 15 bags of sand in it so far and it doesn't even put a dent in it! Sully woudl spend all day plaing in the sand if you let him! I asked Josh how we were going to move it when we got ready to move back to AU and he said that who ever buys the place gets a free sandbox with sand! Ha! There really is no way I am going to shovel up all that sand and haul it back!

We got to go down to Fairhope a few months ago for Josh's job for a hot air balloon festival and he got to be Smokey Bear! How awesome is that !! Sully loves Smokey Bear and loves seeing Daddy at work because he gets to see all his tractors! We stayed with friends who have a 5 year old that Sully had a blast with! we also got to spend a day on the bay swimming, kayaing and playing in the sand!
He is hilarious as ever and says some of the funniest things! For instance, when we are at a red light and it turns green he says "Lets race mommy!" A few weeks back an unnamed family member was spending the weekend with us and went to take a shower. Sully walked into the bathroom and opened the shower curtain and the unnamed family member screamed. To which Sully said "XXXXX you hurt my eyes!" what he really meant was "XXXX you hurt my ears!" I wish I could remember all the junk he says...maybe if I was a better blogger it would all be documented already! He is such a loving sweet boy and loves to give snuggles and hugs. When you ask him how much we love him he stretches his arms out and says "this big" and does the same when you ask him how much he loves us.

This is Sully's sweet face after a rough 24 hours! He fell down on the stone patio at the lake and got a nice goose egg and scratches around his eye. Then when we got home the next day he was swinging on his belly on his swingset and fell face first onto the ground. That resulted in a bloody nose and busted lips! Poor guy looked pitiful...so glad we got all that out his system. It was the first time he has been hurt like that and it scared me but as you can see he was not phased one bit! ALL BOY!!

Sadly we have not been to the lake as much as we would like to this summer. Between work and fire call our weekends are limited as a family and usually only consist of Sundays which is a real bummer. But we have managed to sneak away a few times and loved every minute of it! Our favorite spot this summer has been the zoo, we go every week and love it when friends go! My best friend from high school and her kids met us last week and Sully was in heaven! I am so thankful for our friendship of over 15 years...it is so fun to see our kids playing and warms my heart that they love each other so much!

Sully has been going for weekend visits to see his Nana (my mom) and Popeye (her husband). Let me just say that while this is exciting to have a weekend to ourselves, Josh and I miss him terribly! The first time he went to stay with her we were completely lost on what to do. Now we get lots of projects done that we have been putting off which is nice. Sully loves going to Nana's farm and even has his own t-shirt. They go feed all trhe animals and he even has his own freshly stocked pond each time he goes for a vist. His pond is a giant birdbowl that my mom has placed on the ground. She cleans it out and gets him minnows and he fishes with a net. The boy is spoiled rotten!

We have a few big trips coming up that we are super excited about like our annual Vero Beach trip, going to Ohio to see my long distance bestie and her family and a trip to visit my sil and her fam who live near DISNEY! Which means we will definitely be taking Sully!!!

With Josh working out of town a lot and me working again we decided against our big garden this year and have been relying on local farmers markets and earth fare to get most of our fruits and veggies. We are hoping to have it back in full swing bigger and better next year as we have been working on some exciting opportunities.

Not sure why the pics got out of order but we are lucky I made it this far! Hope everyone is enjoying the last few weeks of summer!!

iPhone photo explosion

It seems like I never get my camera out anymore !

Trips to the zoo, playing with "tractos" (tractors), riding his horsey, watching trains at the riverfront, napping at the store, playing with cousins, playing outside, Easter part 1, getting a pet turtle and losing the chickens in the chicken massacre of 2012....our dogs got out and killed ALL of them! So sad and disgusting! Now we are looking for more chicks.
Two year check up led to a echo cardiogram which thankfully ended up being nothing but an innocent heart murmur. 26 lbs and growing! He talks nonstop and has an amazing vocabulary, even his teachers talk about it often! He repeats everything good or bad...eek! Right now we are battling his 11th ear infection and will be meeting with an ENT next week to discuss tubes.

We are headed to church and two more Easter fam jams tomorrow so my boy should be jacked up on sugar and snuggles! He really likes church and has been talking about it all week!

Hope everyone has a safe and happy Easter!

New school and the big 02 coming up!

When we started Sully at his pre-school back in November we knew it would be hard. We had no idea it would turn into two months of crying, screaming bloody murder, clinging and a real hatred for school....even going as far as walking around the house crying "no school today".....complete torture for me! When you go back to work you want to know your child is geniunely happy and being taken care of. I had ta feeling somethin wasn't right but because we had really never been apart this long, I just assumed is was merely seperation anxiety and was told by the school that he woudl get over it eventually. After the first few weeks and it had only gotten worse, I started noticing that the school must be understaffed bc there were never enough teachers in the class and on a few occasions I would bring him to school and there would be NO teacher in the classroom. When this would happen I would wait around until the teacher got back, complete BS if you ask me! I am paying you to provide a safe environment and leaving 10 2 year olds by themselves is NOT safe, no matter what! Not to mention I never saw anything remotely related to the learning curriculum I was told they would provide! So I began searching for a new school and foudn one that I REALLY loved! Even though it was a lot more expensive than most preschools, we decided to give it a try. TOTALLY WORTH EVERY PENNY! With less than two weeks under his belt at his new school he walks in proudly with a big smile on his face. He absolutely loves it and so do we. Getting ready for school is fun for him now and he loves knowing that he gets to go see his teachers and new friends! This makes for one happy momma!

Moral of my story is that if you have a gut feeling something isnt right, it probably isn't and there is no need to assume it is okay when your child is involved! Even when so many other parents seem to be happy with a situation it may just mean they have no other option. Thankfully we had another option and I am so glad we moved him!

On a different note, my sweet baby is turning TWO this Saturday!!! WOW!! Time flies when you are having fun and working full time! I will update with birthday details and what he has been up to next week. Opening the store has been a long process and now we are working on changing seasons over soon so blog time has been put on the backburner...but I will try my best to get back in the blogging mode!
